STRANGE FRUIT

Strange Fruit is a piece of music from 1939 performed by Billie Holiday. It is about racist lynchings in the Southern United States, so that the very expression Strange Fruit became a symbol of these lynchings. The song was also an anthem during the American civil rights movement.

De Luis always felt a keen interest in the history surrounding Strange Fruit, leading to this work, a response to the proliferation of hoaxes and misinformation to which society has fallen victim in recent years, leading to a worrying increase in racist and hate speech.
