In this work the artist depicts his pathological relationship with compulsiveness, food and sex. With his fist in his mouth, the protagonist of the painting simulates both the provocation of vomiting and the compulsive ingestion of orchids which, as in previous works, symbolize sex.
The limbic system, the part of the brain involved in emotions, hunger and sexuality, is portrayed here and is painted in the same color as the orchids.
The background of the painting is inspired by Dorothea Tanning's Birthday, a row of doors in perspective. When a door opens, hope opens.
