My version of The Giantess: The Guardian of the Egg by Leonora Carrington

Reinterpretation of Leonora Carrington's work La Giganta: La Guardiana del huevo (The Giantess: The Guardian of the Egg) in which the artist links the woman with the natural environment by representing the omnipresent mother Goddess holding an egg that is about to hatch.

The idea came again from a Madonna video clip, Bedtime Story, directed by Mark Romanek, in which surrealist paintings predominantly by women such as Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, Leonora Fini or Frida Kahlo, as well as Lucien Freud, come to life. One of the most iconic scenes in the music video is precisely a reinterpretation of the Giantess painting, one that De Luis takes to his own territory. The Giantess's costume is the Oyster dress from Alexander Mcqueen's Irere collection, and the doves symbolize fertility, emerging from an egg at pubic level, on which one of Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers is drawn, reminiscent of a vagina.
